Students have many opportunities to participate in excursions or to represent the school in various school related activities. Students are expected to:

Rationale
Major out-of-school activities such as camps, study tours and ski trips are principally an exercise in social education designed to achieve or increase:
- student self-confidence and independence;
- co-operation and mutual respect;
- skills and attitudes for civilised group living, including adherence to reasonable behaviour norms;
- good relations between teachers and students;
- willingness to accept responsibility for oneself and one's actions;
- sound ethical values;
- an understanding of different cultures or way of life;
- experiences that are not possible in the classroom.
and in addition for Year 7 Camp
- group cohesion among students from many different primary schools;
- strong links between Year 7 students and Year 10 Peer Support leaders.

BHS teachers have very high expectations of students attending a camp or other out-of- school residential activity. Students (and their parents) will be advised in writing in advance of these expectations, and should not participate if they are unable or not prepared to meet them.
