English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD)
Belconnen High School has an English as an Additional language or Dialect (EALD) program to support students from a language background other than English. It is run each year based on the needs of students in the school. Students who need more language support are in a smaller class group. Students with stronger language skills are also able to access support through the EALD teacher.
The EALD program aims to provide students with the opportunity to improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening, and to acquire skills to enable them to understand and complete tasks in all subject areas.
