Excursions

Excursions

Educational excursions offer valuable learning experiences for all students across diverse settings. At Belconnen High School, excursions are an important part of school life as they align with and support the school’s vision and educational philosophy by:

  • Extending the learning that occurs within the classroom, including the development of personal attributes such as enterprise, courage, commitment and the ability to work in teams
  • Recognising and valuing learning that takes place beyond the classroom
  • Making school-based learning real and relevant through practical applications, encouraging a belief in life-long learning.
  • Providing opportunities for learning outside the school context which may not otherwise be available to all students

Throughout the year, a wide range of excursions enrich our educational program – from visits to local institutions, events, local and interstate camps.

Students have many opportunities to participate in excursions or to represent the school in various school related activities. Students are expected to:

  • be in school uniform or sports uniform if participating in a sporting activity;
  • be punctual;
  • be considerate of the rights and feelings of others;
  • act in a sensible, mature manner so as not to jeopardise the good reputation of BHS;
  • provide all permission notes and monies before participating in the excursion.
